Join us as we read through the Gospel of Luke during this Advent Season...
By Cecilia Gibbs, Assistant Principal Rock Solid Christian Academy

Luke 21: 1-38
Today our reading is from Luke 21: 1-38. Luke describes the story of the widow’s two mites, as well as the coming of “the Son of Man.”

As I read through this Luke 21, I was drawn to one of the last verses of this chapter: “Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21: 36 NIV)

Matthew 24: 42 also says, “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day on which your Lord will come.”

The definition of “watch” is “to look at or observe attentively over a period of time.” As we approach the last few days of our Advent reading together, my desire is that Christ would open my eyes to watch for Him attentively. I also want to watch for ways I can serve Him better, and watch for ways I can share His Truth with others. As my pastor reminds us often, the Lord is coming soon. These are exciting times for those who know Jesus!

We only have a few more days left to read Luke 24 together. What a special time this has been for me. As we’ve read through God’s word, each chapter has been much like opening a wonderful gift. I’m praying that the same has been true for you.

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Hebrews 4: 12 NIV)
