Join us as we read through the Gospel of Luke during this Advent Season...
By Cecilia Gibbs, Assistant Principal Rock Solid Christian Academy Luke 12: 1-59 Today we are reading from Luke 12: 1-59. Jesus teaches about hypocrisy, the fear of God, and confessing Christ before men. He also tells a parable about a rich fool, encourages us to not worry, talks about the faithful servant and more. There is a lot to digest in this chapter! My focus in reading Chapter 12 was on verses 22-23. After speaking to a large crowd about laying up treasures on earth, Jesus turns to his disciples and says, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing.” (Luke 12: 22-23 NLT) In these verses, Christ is teaching that there's no benefit in worrying about every day life. Peace of mind comes from a relationship with God, not from physical provisions. Worrying about worldly possessions or the lack of them only leads to a life of insecurity. This in turn translates to losing out on the important blessings of life our Lord wants us to enjoy. During this Christmas Season my hope for us is that we’ll focus our hearts on Christ. I pray we will seek the abundant life Jesus offers us as we put our dependence on Him rather than on physical things. “I depend on God alone; I put my hope in Him. He alone protects and saves me; He is my defender, and I shall never be defeated. My salvation and honor depend on God; He is my strong protector; He is my shelter. Trust in God at all times, my people. Tell Him all your troubles, for He is our refuge. Psalm 62: 5-12 NLT) Comments are closed.
