Faithful to our Mission
We do not know the future yet, we take heart in The One who does. Although the world feels shaky and
unpredictable, we trust Our God, who holds this world and our lives together. Rock Solid Christian
Academy (RSCA) is committed to the health of our students, faculty and staff, as well as to the health of
our school and our continued mission to equip students for a lifetime of learning and glorifying God. As
we forge ahead, here are the plans we are working on to return to campus safely. We will periodically
update these as the CDC provides more research and guidelines. We cannot wait to see you all on
campus!
Overview
We follow the guidelines established by the City & County of Denver and the Denver Department of
Public Health & Environment (DDPHE). Please keep in mind that as regulations change and the number
of infections increase or decrease, the plan may require updates and/or revisions. Having worked
through several weeks of distance learning at the close of the 2019-2020 school year, we are committed
to doing what we can to ensure on-campus, in-person learning for as long as possible and request
parent and student cooperation and patience with this plan.
Denver Public Health Orders
On Monday, August 2, 2021, the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment (DDPHE) issued a
new Public Health Order requiring personnel of specified entities within the City & County of Denver to
be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by September 30, 2021. The order applies to all schools located
within the City & County of Denver, both public and private, which includes Rock Solid Christian
Academy. The public health order allows for only medical and religious exemptions to the vaccination
requirement. Please note this is applicable to all staff, substitute teachers, and volunteers. The order
specifies that an individual must be fully vaccinated (i.e. 2 weeks after second shot, if applicable) by
September 30.
On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment (DDPHE) issued a
new Public Health Order regarding a mask mandate within public and private schools and childcare
facilities located within the City and County of Denver for all people 2 years of age and older. In
compliance with this mandate, beginning Thursday, August 19, we will require masks for all students,
staff, and visitors while inside our building, regardless of vaccination status. While we are neither
medical experts nor officers of the law, we are doing our best to navigate the mandate while keeping
everyone safe without infringing on personal rights and freedoms. If a student, staff member, volunteer,
or visitor has a medical reason for not wearing a mask, please inform Mrs. Curtis in writing for our
records. The mandate also allows for exceptions for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Isolation and Quarantine Guidelines
RSCA will continue to require any student or staff member who tests positive for COVID-19 regardless of
vaccination status to isolate at home for 10 days before returning to school or work. This allows RSCA to
remove COVID-19 positive individuals from school and work settings to prevent transmission to others.
In accordance with updated health guidance, RSCA will no longer require proactive quarantining of
those who may have been exposed to a positive and/or symptomatic individual. If a family member in
the home tests positive for COVID-19, the parents/guardians and students or staff member are to follow
guidance provided from the health department and medical professionals related to quarantine.
RSCA will continue to notify school community members (staff, parents, and guardians) about positive
and/or symptomatic cases. In accordance with applicable state and federal law, we are committed to
maintaining confidentiality regarding positive cases.
*Note: These guidelines are subject to change at any time due to state and City and County of Denver
requirements and/or Public Health Orders.
Reduction of viral exposure by the following:
At-Home Symptom Screening
Health checks will not be conducted at RSCA this year. Therefore, it is important for parents and
guardians to monitor their children for symptoms related to illness, whether COVID-19 or otherwise,
and keep your student(s) home if they are feeling ill. These procedures are also applicable to RSCA staff.
